Scorpion The memory of visiting the beach with his mother as a child. | Being recognized for a great accomplishment/ discovery in his own name. | Dying without accomplishing anything in his own name |
Generous, kind, non-judgmental, compassion, power-hungry, brutal ambition this all describes Scorpius Malfoy. He is someone who is loyal to his friends and family members, and is filled with humor always cracking jokes when he can. He is open minded and does his best not to judge people, and fully rejects judging anyone based on their blood status. Given his family’s history and how feels he is looked down upon because of it, he tries to go out of his way to help people. Despite all that, at the end of the day Scorpius was sorted in Slytherin for one main reason, his brutal ambition. Inside at the center of this serpent is a hunger for power that is willing to do almost anything to gain it. He might be nice and try to be different than his grandfather and others like him but Scorpius has learned he will throw someone under the bus in the name of “nothing personal, just business” to gain power or get a leg up.
The pressure of being in his family and the feeling of constant judgment has driven Scorpius to pick up a drinking problem from time to time including a temper which happens to be like a volcano when it finally erupts. He feels he must he always be the best in most things he does, to prove that he is capable of doing it. That money didn’t buy his way in, or the threat of killing someone, but his work, raw talent and skill got him where he was. Scorpius is also extremely curious about many elements of the magical world with magical creatures being an area of study he enjoys and loves. He feels a need to discover things that no one else has before, or invent something else hasn’t. Above all, he wants to be recognized for something that was done by Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, and not because he was a Malfoy.
History
Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy was born on July 3rd, 2005 to Draco and Astoria Malfoy, being an only child to them. Being the son of Draco Malfoy, was never a great thing due to the constant judgment that came with it. It even hurt worse considering he was the grandson of Lucius Malfoy a convicted Death Eater who was not just hated by the side of the Order and all that is good but even by the true believers of the pure-blood supremacy cause and supporters of Lord Voldemort. Scorpius growing up as an only child was lonely, he didn’t have all the friends he had hoped for due to others not wanting to hang out with him, and also his fear that prevented him from trying to make friends. His parents made time for him whenever they could especially his mother, insisting that he not be given the same childhood as Draco was and that he would be loved by them and shown it. His first sign of magic came when he was only three years old when he floated cookies out of a cookie jar behind his mother’s back after she told him after dinner only.
Scorpius was afforded tutoring at an early age with both his parents considering it to be helpful to him to get an early start on his studies before heading to Hogwarts. Something about helping his mother in the garden stood out to him, all the different plants they had were amazing and unique including ones he read about in books and only hoped to see one day. The different magical creatures around the world fascinated him, and his mother would take him on safaris to see different magical creatures and buy him all the reading material he wanted on them. Potions were something he learned from his father and he enjoyed it as well, with him desiring to try to make his own potions, which considering his young age never truly worked out.
He never visited his grandfather in prison nor ever wanted too, and he rejected by seeing his grandmother anymore after he got older despite her reluctance for supporting the Dark Lord at the end. It was because she still held on to her pure-blood beliefs even if she would say she rejected the way Voldemort went about the cause. Scorpius never believed in the cause and made quite clear to his immediate and extended family that he completely rejected any thought that someone was better because of their blood status.
In 2016 he was sent to Hogwarts, and while riding on the Hogwarts express he met a kid who was a first-year as well. Albus Severus Potter was his name, the son of Harry Potter a man who his father never really saw eye to eye with because of their time at school together and their history. However; Albus was different than what Scorpius would have thought and they hit it off instantly. Maybe it was because both felt they were constantly being judged based on their last names, the actions of their father or family members, instead of being judged based on their own actions themselves. Maybe fate or random luck played a role in having them sit in the same compartment that day but Scorpius has always been grateful for that day.
He was sorted into Slytherin house despite, the Sorting Hat giving thought to Ravenclaw because of his natural curiosity of so many things, wanting to discover different magical creatures, potions, and plants. Yet the Sorting Hat chose Slytherin not because of history of his family it said, but because of his hunger for power and ambitious nature, saying it rivaled that of Salazar Slytherin. Hearing that always stayed with Scorpius because he knew the founder of his House was a man he disagreed with on many levels, and that he would truly be scared of what he could become if he was anything like that man. Scorpius found his time at Hogwarts being busy with classes, studies and also hanging out with his really good friend Albus who had been sorted into the same house. He never tried out for the house team, despite his dad being a former seeker, instead, he focused on studies, exploring the forest anytime he could, and venturing around the grounds. Quidditch was a fun sport, which he played with friends and was good at but he resented being pushed towards the team because of his dad, and because of that completely rejected it.
During spring break, when the attacks happened Scorpius had been at his family home which did not come under attack, but he could see that the night sky was lite up with the fire of homes and cities burning, the screams of agony and pain also filled the night leaving him with a sick feeling. He had wanted to do something to be able to help but instead, he wasn’t and his parents wouldn’t let him leave the house. This moment is what drove him to choose to become a Healer instead of a Magizoologist. He had the grades he needed in the classes to enter the training program to become a Healer, and upon his graduation, he became a trainee for the Creature Induced Injuries still feeding his passion of magical creatures.
Since graduating Scorpius has been living on his own using what money his parents supplied to get a small little place of his own as he starts his own life. He has just started his training to become a Healer and is hoping he will be able to finish the training, with himself questioning if he can be one. He has also refused to take any position on the outcome of the two worlds since the attacks happened, despite not having a problem with the way things are now. He feels that he needs to stay neutral as people are already judging based on his last name and think that he automatically hates muggles and wants them to be slaves Scorpius has also over the last few weeks struggled with his own sexuality wondering if he is truly straight after all, as he has found guys attractive.
