About Vince
Vincent is 16, in Ravenclaw, and doesn't appear to be the dimwitted, jerk Goyle everyone would anticipate with his name. When he came to Hogwarts he had his sights held high on changing the bad taste the name 'Goyle' left in his peers' mouths. He seems warm, charismatic, open, and friendly to everyone and is generally well liked by both the professors and his peers.
I keep saying 'seems like' because he's secretly believes the pureblood mantra that he was exposed to and has some anger management issues. His motivation in life is to take back the control he is certain was stolen from Pureblooded families from the Muggleborns and believes his best chance at doing so is achieving a high level position within the MoM. He has also largely found a way to control his anger - take it all out on someone very weak and defenseless who won't tattle. Otherwise he gets along great with everyone, even if he secretly despises almost everyone he meets.
So far he’s done alright hiding his sociopathy from his peers apart from his selected few victims. He’s made it to his sixth year at Hogwarts with a squeaky clean record, even making prefect and Ravenclaw chaser. At the same time he can feel his fury growing again. He thought the Gathering Storm meant that changes were coming and yet nothing has happened.
Friends: Vince does not have true friends, only people he can manipulate to suit his needs. They will be in the nobler houses, Slytherin and Ravenclaw, and can either keep up with him intellectually or are Quidditch friends or rivals. In any case, his true colours have not been seen by any friend of his, and even his closest friends at Hogwarts are unaware of his loyalties to the Dark Forces. His 'friends' will be under the illusion that they're closer than they actually are, and view Vince as a loyal confidant. People on his Quidditch team will also fall under the 'friends' category.
Enemies: Vince is not outwardly antagonistic, so his enemies will be those who hate his family, or conflate him with Pureblood idealism. He will never talk back to those people, and instead will make it seem as if those are antiquated views. His personal enemies will be Muggleborns, Muggles, or those who sympathize with muggles. And you can expect those people to have some unfortunate luck with some a possession, a friendship, or a secret.
Ministry Workers: Vince was lucky enough to procure a Ministry of Magic internship, despite his family name, and he's doing plenty of ass-kissing this break. I picture him in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, or working with someone who is dealing with the fall-out with the Statute being broken. I think it could lead to a number of fun intellectual conversations.
Other plots I’d like to play with Vince
Recruit me to the dark side: This is really a singular thread, but Vince already has the mindset and the desire to join the Dark Side the moment that he graduates. With the big changes happening in the Ministry, I think Vince will want to start sooner than that. I think it’d be neat if he both joined the Dark Side while still in school and tried to recruit a few members to the cause.
…What are you doing?: Vince does not know this yet about himself, but he is asexual meaning he has no innate desire to engage in sexual or need to engage in non-sexual activities such as hand-holding and cuddling. He is quite content with knowing his parents will eventually select him a Pureblooded partner, and then he’ll have children until he has a son of his own to continue the House of Goyle. Vince … doesn’t recognize that this is abnormal. I’d like for a Pureblooded girl about his age to try and get into his pants and help him recognize his abnormality. Note to anyone who takes this up: this plot can get violent so please don’t ask if that makes you uncomfortable at all.
The untimely death of an animal companion: Kind of morbid, but I'd like for Vince to kill someone's pet cat, and then act as the shoulder to cry on. I dunno. I thought this may be funny ;P.
PLEASE ASK ME BEFORE YOUR CHARACTER RECOGNIZES VINCE AS A SOCIOPATH.
